... of the pretty published material that I received in the mail. Every year is a quest for a wall calendar. The most successful one that made me the happiest was
Yoshitomo Nara's 2006 calendar. After that, I haven't found anything quite so fun to grace my work space wall for a year. Not until this year's
Frankie Magazine Calendar ... My wall is happy, sporting a big, huge wow! It boasts of several artists that I absolutely love--
Katherine Brickman,
Catherine Campbell,
Jen Corace,
Tinee Kleinschroth,
Marjorie Liucci,
Kat Macleod,
Beci Orpin,
Erin Paisley-Stueber,
Lilly
Piri,
Rob Ryan,
Mel Stringer and
Eveline Tarunadjaja... Really, enough inspiration and more for 2009! Here is a page by Marjorie Lucci:
In the children's book section, there's Hansel and Gretel, lovingly told by Cynthia Rylant and illustrated by Jen Corace. I just love that this one is told so sensible, and in the end... love takes care of all...
In the cook book arena, there's
Afternoon Tea, by the same publishers as Frankie Magazine. I love cookbooks and baking books because I am so infatuated by the pretty pictures in them, like this one:
And, finally, there's
The Daily Candy lexicon, full of words that are not exactly in the Webster's, but should really exist. I particularly love the illustrations:
Now, will these make make me smarter in 2009? That remains to be seen, but already, I am feeling the rush of inspiration... so, 2009, please be gentle with me, and thank you for the dozes of creativity these awaken. All that, and it's only been one day into the year! I can't wait to see 2009 through!
