One can tell that I am just peachy were I'm at when I don't try to dodge the bordedom or ruin the moment by taking photos. For this reason, I am such a taker on all of my social networks (facebook, multiply, etc.) because the last time I've posted pictures was last year! The image above was the best image I could find of family. It's a doll from my aunt's Peru journey. She holds one of her babies close to her chest, the other one, is bundled up behind her. I haven't seen my Tante in six years, and my other Tita Kitty, I've met as a child, but I've never connected with until this trip. There were no photos of us, but lots of meanignful conversation, belly laughs, jokes, and just pure being together. Nothing beats that! To them, I am so grateful! I hold a picture of their warm home and all the nuances of their existence, from their dish washing habits to the way they like to have their own personal ash trays, down to their fondness for Charice.
We capped my visit with a lovely day in Lonsdale, and dinner from an assortment of its Italian markets. My Tante told me never to forget where I came from, and it's good to be reminded of family and of one's roots, for even if that is a place of so much history when one would rather look towards the future, so much can be explained, told, loved, comforted and soothed by the people who make our family.
